7 Tips For Your Spring Wardrobe Organization

The cold season is gone; why not the heavy sweaters and scarves? Spring season is a time to spend and enjoy happy moments outdoors at food festivals, cookouts, picnics, and shopping. With that comes many fashion responsibilities, one of them being how to organize your wardrobe during spring.

A well-organized closet will save you a lot of time you’d otherwise spend ravaging through piles of clothing you do not need. To be honest, organization is not an easy task, but anyone can do it with a bit of help. Here are seven tips on how to organize your spring wardrobe.

Declutter

If you haven’t worn something for two or more springs, it might be time for you to get rid of it. Decluttering helps you free up space in your room and mind, leaving a wholesome feeling and a highly recommended healthy mental state.

Before you declutter, set out five bins or set aside enough room for five piles. These piles will be used to organize and determine what you shall and shall not keep.

  • Keep - The keep pile is for the items you are sure to keep for the season.
  • Trash -The trash pile is for those items worn and torn beyond repair. These are not worth keeping or donating.
  • Donate itemsthat you’ve worn but are still in good enough condition to share with the less fortunate.
  • Sell-It doesn’t hurt to make extra cash on some of your valuables. If you have the market, then sell them.
  • The Maybepile is for those items you seem to have trouble getting rid of. You also don’t seem sure you want to keep them away for the spring. Hold on to them a little longer while you figure it out. After all, this is not an easy task.

Once your items are in the above bundles;

  • Decide the number of outfits you want for the spring.
  • Set aside the exact number of hangers for the items.
  • Select the items you intend to wear during the season. To make it easier to limit, choose things you can mix and match to suit your style.
  • Limit the number of clothes for each category

It is easy to get lost or gravitate towards a specific style. How many black tops can one have? We, however, are all culprits and, more often than not, have found ourselves with one top too many of the same kind. That is not a crime.

During decluttering, be keen on such items. Find the duplicates and get rid of the older, less worn versions. For instance, if you own six pairs of blue pants, give away three and give room for something else.

Have a Fashion Show

The more you declutter, the harder it gets. To make it easier, a fashion show in front of your mirror or a trusted friend or partner will help further. Try on the clothes in the ‘keep and maybe’ pile to see if they fit or match the weather and season.

Color Code Everything

Organizing your wardrobe in color makes it more aesthetic, faster, and easier to pair or reach clothes. It is easier and more efficient to find an item when you know exactly which section of the closet it is in. you can go a little further, and color code the hanger.

For instance, you can have all the whites on white hangers. Furthermore, this uniformity gives your wardrobe flow limitless possibilities for mixing and matching.

Organize by Category

The best way to organize by category is to go from style, length, then color. A categorized closet allows room for quicker access. For instance, have all the shirts on hangers and t-shirts folded. Have the dresses on hangers and the pants folded, keep underwear, socks, and ties well folded and in separate drawers. This not only increases ambiance in the room but also helps you remain wholesome.

Remember to be strategic. Your closet does not only include clothing and jewelry but also shoes. Do not put your snickers inside a closed closet to avoid any smell or residual smell that comes with closed footwear, as it will stick to your clothes. Find a different spot with free moving air, such as a ruck by the door.

Create Space

You need space for your clothes. Precisely for movement and to avoid creases that come with cramping up clothes together in a small area which may lead to tearing. Items such as pants, t-shirts, sweaters, and undergarments can be stored folded in drawers or storage bags or bins. Furthermore, folding sweaters prevents them from losing shape and form with hanging.

Practice Round

Like we said earlier, organization is not easy. The clothes you are removing from your closet are fundamental values and probably hold some sentiments for you. To make it easier, hang all these items facing the back after figuring out what you want to keep and what you are unsure about. After the first or second week of laundry, hang all the freshly washed clothes facing the front.

Any item still facing the backside should be removed and donated or sold since though of value, it is not as sentimental. This goes for shoes and jewelry as well.

Spread out your wardrobe space.

Spread out your selection of items evenly in the closet. Leaving big spaces in the closet only trains your mind to think you have room for more items, and instead of decluttering, you end up adding more unnecessary items.

Just because you have something does not mean it holds any value to you. Most times, there is someone out there who needs it more. By decluttering and organizing your wardrobe, you free up space in your room and your mind, leaving you with a more wholesome person than you were before. After all, the mind functions best in a clean and orderly environment.

After all, less is more, and in our case, the less cluttered your closet is, the more artistic opportunities you have to explore the endless possibilities of fashion in your closet. Have a great spring!
